Joint Mobility
Stretching
While it is true that stretching will not correct misaligned or fixated joints, stretching still offers numerous
benefits. One of the main benefits is that stretching helps to improve your joint and muscle flexibility.  This is
an important aspect of your care plan.
Flexibility is the ability to move the parts of
your body through their full range of motion.
Stretching will help improve your flexibility.
Adequate flexibility of tissues around the spine
and pelvis allows full, normal spinal movement,
prevents abnormal force on the joints and
decreases the possibility of injury.

           Standing Backward Bend

1. Stand straight with your hands on your waist.
Bend backward, arching your back as far as
you comfortably can while keeping your
  balance.

2. Hold for 5-10 seconds. Repeat until your back
  feels looser (about 5 x).

3. Do 2-3 sets per day.

Stretching also prepares muscles for activity; stretching should be
done before and after each vigorous workout to prevent muscle
strain and soreness, and to help avoid injuries. When performing
flexibility exercises, stretch as far as you can and hold the stretch.
Each stretching exercise should be performed slowly, with no sudden
jerking or bouncing. Bouncing can injure or strain a muscle or joint.

Stretching is a wonderful activity and should be incorporate into your
care plan. Ask about me about stretching – today!
